Lastest Gallop Poll Shows Obama in the lead 49 to 46 percent over Romney

12 Oct

The newest Gallup Poll, released on October 9th, shows Barack Obama with a slim lead of 49 percent to 46 percent over the Republican challenger Mitt Romney. (It should be noted that the Gallup Poll has a +/- margin error of 2 percent) This comes on the heels of the very crucial 2nd debate between the vice-presidential candidates Joe Biden (Democrat) and Paul Ryan (Republican) which just finished airing tonight, October 11th. The Republican candidate has made up ground since the first presidential debate, according to recent polls, but just how much remains to be seen. Either way, the next Presidential Debate (airs October 16 at 9:00 PM EST) will be crucial in deciding this election, which is sure to come down to the wire.

HERE IS A HISTORY OF THE POLLING DATA for the last 5 months of 2012.

Tonight, October 11, 2012, the vice-presidential nominees from the two major American political parties will debate in front of a live audience at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. Joe Biden (Democratic Nominee and Incumbent Vice President) will go head to head against Paul Ryan (Republican Nominee) on a variety of issues. The debate will cover both foreign and domestic topics and be divided into nine time segments of approximately 10 minutes each. The moderator will ask an opening question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the question. (This is almost the same format as the first presidential debate).

Tonight’s vice-presidential debate might be the most important in recent history. Considering all that has changed since the first presidential debate, and the poor showing of Barack Obama, tonight’s debate will be key for the Democrats in making up some of the lost ground that they have given away since the first debate. Polls show that most if not all of the lead that Obama had going into the first debate has been lost, and 1 poll even shows a slight lead for Romney going into tonight’s debate.

Tonight’s debate starts at 9:00 PM EST (Thats 12:00 Noon in Sydney)

For those of you who are not near a television (or not in Danville, KY), you can watch the debate via a live stream on YouTube. Just click on the link below for all of the debate coverage, from Pre-Debate through to Post-Debate (and of course the entire debate live).
